QUOTA LICENSE ACQUISITION
What Is a Quota License?
A quota license is a liquor license that allows the establishment to serve beer, wine, and full liquor with consumption on-premise or package sales. It is the most inclusive liquor license available in the state of Florida.
As mandated, there are only a finite number of quota licenses available in each county, calculated by several factors, including the size and population of the county. There are two options available to a business owner looking for a quota license in Florida: purchase one from a willing seller or enter a lottery drawing.
Purchasing a Florida Quota Liquor License from Someone Seeking to Sell
Given that there is only a finite number of quota licenses available, an owner of an establishment cannot simply apply and pay for one anytime. Instead, they will need to purchase one that already exists.
Sometimes, business owners no longer need their license because they may make a business change, retire, or close their business. Our licensed broker can help you get in touch with this kind of legal transaction. The cost of purchasing this license is entirely dictated by market values based on recent sales and availability. This is where Liquor License Professionals can assist you.
We help anyone in Florida who is trying to sell their license, but we assist in the purchasing process of a license as well. We help remove the guesswork in all the procedures and legal work required for business owners to acquire or transfer their liquor licenses. This includes setting the cost, financing (if needed), date of transfer, fees, and closing the sale.
At Liquor License Professionals, we’re experienced at helping these deals go through smoothly without delays. We’ll work closely with you and all parties involved to ensure you get the best price possible and that all the facets of the sale or purchase are properly handled.
Enter a Florida Quota Liquor License Lottery Drawing
New quota licenses become available each year; however, an individual or business owner cannot just acquire them directly. These new quota licenses are released in an annual quota license lottery drawing awarded to counties showing growth in population.
Interested business owners enter this drawing for a chance to avail of a license if they are in one of the selected “growing” counties. Entering this lottery does not guarantee a license, however, and it comes with several stipulations when filling the application for the drawing:
- The entry form filing fee is $100.00.
- An activation fee can be as much as $10,000.00.
- An entrant can be an individual or a business but is only allowed one entry per county.
- An entrant cannot be entered more than once within a given county.
- Before the stated deadline, the entry must be submitted online, by mail, or by hand to the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco.
Entry forms are accepted by the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco within certain specific dates. For more information, reach out to Liquor License Professionals for accurate filing dates and professional assistance in filing your application.
